Echoes of the Homeland

In the ever-flowing stream of creativity, our homeland – the place where we are born and belong – remains a peaceful sanctuary and an eternal source of inspiration. As every handcrafted piece carries within it the very breath of one’s roots, the Global Crafts Festival cordially invites artisans and artists to join us in co-creating extraordinary installation artworks under the theme 'Echoes of the Homeland.' This is more than just an invitation to create from natural materials and skillful hands; it is a journey back to primordial values to craft art for humanity's sake. Within this shared space, we envision each artisan and artist as a cultural ambassador, sharing their unique perspective on their origins. Together, we shall weave a powerful bond across the global craft community. Join us in awakening the deepest emotions and spreading the beauty of our lands through creations that resonate with profound human values

Artwork Requirements

Each artwork must satisfy four fundamental requirements. These requirements serve as the official evaluation and selection criteria, with specific weights assigned to each to reflect its relative importance in the final assessment

Alignment with the "Echoes of the Homeland" Theme

The artwork should transcend mere physical representation, conveying a profound sense of ancestral memory and regional cultural identity through the language of installation art. Each piece must be accompanied by a concise artist statement sharing the spiritual journey and emotional resonance of the "homeland" - the very source of inspiration that guided the artist’s first strokes.

Excellence in Traditional Craftsmanship and Creative Vision

We highly value traditional artisanal techniques that showcase the artist’s mastery over their chosen medium. The work must demonstrate meticulous execution and refinement, ensuring an exquisite aesthetic from every viewing angle. The fusion of traditional craftsmanship with modern sculptural thinking is a key criterion for high artistic recognition.

</br>Spatial Interaction

Spatial Interaction

The artwork should engage in an intimate dialogue with its surroundings rather than existing as an isolated object. We encourage creations that invite direct audience interaction, such as walking through the piece, touching its textures, or listening to the sounds of its materials. The structure must be stable, safe, and self-supporting, serving as a powerful visual anchor that guides the viewer's emotions.

Commitment to Sustainability

The artwork should be a tribute to eco-friendly, natural, and indigenous materials. The Organizing Committee requires that the use of synthetic materials, plastics, or non-biodegradable chemicals be kept to a strict minimum. Artists are expected to demonstrate respect for natural resources through their material choices and provide a post-exhibition plan, ensuring a sustainable lifecycle and a minimal environmental footprint.
